OO-BLA-DEE is a play that follows the all-female band ‘ The Diviners’  as they travel from St-Louis to Chicago to set up a record deal following the end of World War II. The inspiration came from Regina Taylor, the Playwright/ Lyricist of OO-BLA-DEE who asks, when is the right time to be a colored woman and an artist? Can Gin Del Sol, the protagonist find freedom beyond gender and skin through her music?  The female figure in the poster represents the protagonist of the play Gin Del Sol who is trying to reinvent herself through her music. The colors flowing to create the figure represent her experiences as a colored woman navigating through a difficult time in history to find her voice.  The theme of race and gender is still as important, therefore the color palette and fonts used have a modern feel to them to appeal to the present generation.
