Saree/Sari is a popular women's garment in my Nepalese culture. I was inspired to create this typeface by the different ways women pleat and drape the fabric in their bodies. the nature of the fabric is very loose and flimsy. My process included mostly sketching the curves and experimenting with the many different ways to manipulate the fabric. I used thumb pins, safety pins, and bobby pins to hold the material for the maximum amount of control over the fabric but quickly realized the best way was to give in to the nature of the fabric. The natural shadows created on the wall also create a stark contrast to the flow of the fabric.
